Mmmmm Egg Mayo

Is it wrong that I'm a sucker for egg salad?  I could eat hard-boiled eggs pretty much any time of day.  When I was in London, they actually sold what they quite cleverly called, "Egg Mayonnaise,"  in plastic tubs, ready to eat.  Some of my favorite nights were when I stopped at the store after work, picked up a tub of egg mayo and a baguette, sat on the couch and watched the same 4 episodes of Friends 3 times in a row (it was one of the only American shows and few channels we got) and ripped off the baguette piece by piece and scooped up the egg mayo goodness.

Mmmmmm Sainsbury's Egg Mayo Deli Filler.  Delish!
If I was feeling especially fancy, I'd stop by Pret a Manger during lunch and pick up a pre-made egg mayo sandwich.  Oh, and of course a Love Bar for dessert :)

My absolute favorite egg mayo sando came from this AMAZING deli/bakery near my office on Praed Street in London.  It was called Bonne Bouche.  After I started thinking about it, I spent about a half hour desperately googling it, looking for a website or a menu so that I could reminisce about all my favorite sandwiches and hazelnut cookie bars I used to get from there, but unfortunately they don't have a website.  Not all of the money I blew in London was on clothes, a lot of it went to this wonderful place.

Seriously, if you go to London, go here.
This extremely long blog post devoted to egg mayonnaise was inspired by this recipe I found on Real Simple's website.  I made some egg salad last night to eat with saltines for dinner and I decided it was time to spice it up.  When it comes to my egg salad, I'm very British about it - just egg and mayo.  But I decided to add some more flavor the next time.  I think this recipe - Curried Egg Salad might be just right. Although, I think I might skip out on the pumpernickel bread. I'm quite satisfied with my saltines.

LC Style

This book is on my list of books to purchase next.  I adore Lauren Conrad's style.  She always looks so chic and well put-together.  She's got such a classic, mature style about her that I would love to have. And she's just so gorgeous!  I've heard great things about her style book and I can't wait to check it out!  Plus it will look so pretty on my coffee table :)

P.S. have you checked out her website? It's awesome!

Ahhh Summer

The perfect way to spend your lunch break on a breezy summer day: With a good book, on a park bench, overlooking the Chicago River.  Gotta enjoy these last few days of Summer!

I'm currently reading Steve Martin's new book An Object of Beauty and I L.O.V.E it!  Art history has always been a big passion of mine but I've sort of let it slip out of my mind a bit since college.  But this book has totally brought back my love for it.  There are a few X-rated scenes in the book, one of which I was reading on a very packed train-ride home yesterday.  I'm pretty sure the man behind me was reading it over my shoulder.  I can only imagine what he thought I was reading.  But it is such a great book about the art world - artists, dealers, auctions, etc. and it's such incredible writing!  I think it's about time a re-visit one of Chicago's fabulous art museums.

Kate Spade Loves Me

I think Kate Spade is trying to tell me something with these adorable wristlets.  I mean, she wouldn't name them after me, Jennifer Ann, if I wasn't supposed to buy at least one of them right??  I always knew Kate's gorgeous handbags and I were a perfect fit, and know it's been confirmed!  These Jenny Ann wristlets were made for me and then named after me.  And as if they weren't perfect enough already, they are now on SALE!  How much do you love the seersucker one?!

Current Obsession

A friend of mine recently turned me on to Pop Chips and I'm totally obsessed! If you haven't tried them already, you must do so immediately! They are the perfect 3pm snack for me at work - totally satisfy the salt cravings.  They come in so many different flavors (Sea salt and vinegar are my fave!) and the best part is they are all natural and only 100 calories in a small bag.  Doesn't get much better than that. mmmmmm

Bieber Yourself

Have you seen this new site, I Am Bieber where you can "Bieber Yourself" ?!?!?!   It's totally ridiculous and totally awesome at the same time.   I think I look better as Bieber than I did when I actually was a teenager...

Bliss

I discovered a new drink on vacation this weekend that is the most sweet and delicious drink ever.  I was introduced to Pinnacle Vodka's new flavor, Whipped Cream, a few months ago and I was giddy with excitement (Have you seen how many other flavors they have?! It's insane! Cake, cotton candy, root beer.  They even have a "Gummy" flavor!).  Whipped cream is seriously one of my favorite foods (is whipped cream considered a "food"?).  I couldn't really figure out what to drink it with until a bartender in Missouri suggested pairing it with cranberry juice.  Oh.Em.Gee was it good!  The cranberry broke up some of the sweetness and it tasted like pure bliss.  Sort of like a light red velvet cake. I am officially hooked.

Vacay

Just returned from a 5 day vacation in the Lake of the Ozarks with the family.  Nothing but eating, relaxing in the sun, drinking, pool, live music, eating, boating, drinking, bars on the lake, eating, card games, drinking, lake swimming, eating, outlet shopping, and did I mention eating and drinking?  Other than all the bugs, it was totally worth the 8 hour drive.

Captain Ron's is one of our favorite local places.  We boated over there for a late night of live music, dancing and drinks.

Another favorite hot spot is the Bear Bottom Resort where we heard more live music out by the pool complete with water slide and swim-up bar and ate a plate of nachos bigger than my head!

Pretty Summer Hair

I'm loving this adorable hairstyle from See Creatures by Catherine.  It looks so delicate and easy to do.  I must try it soon.  Don't you just love the name - Waterfall Braid.  It makes it sound even prettier!

Diner En Blanc

Diner en Blanc (or "Dinner in White"), a Paris tradition, is coming to Chicago this month!  Tickets became available yesterday at noon and unfortunately I was wait-listed, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get in!  It's a totally top secret dinner party where everything is entirely white - your outfit, your tables, chairs, dinnerware (you must bring it all yourself), everything!  They don't reveal the location until the night of, and they march the parade of white to the location where you can dine together in a beautiful color-less scene.  The tradition began in Paris back in 1988 and is finally making their debut in Chicago at the end of August.  I'm absolutely dying to go!  Normally I would be opposed to wearing all white, but I would make an exception for this.
